De terminal van Cosco Shipping Ports Zeebrugge gebruikt sinds kort het terminal operating system Navis N4. Zeebrugge is de eerste terminal in het globale Cosconetwerk waar N4 wordt geïmplementeerd.
Begin 2018 sloot Cosco Shipping Ports een akkoord met Navis, dat onderdeel is van het Finse Cargotec. Op termijn zal het terminal operating system N4 op 269 aanlegplaatsen in 38 havens wereldwijd in gebruik genomen worden. “Met N4 als het brein en de centrale informatiebron voor dagelijkse operaties in onze terminals, zijn we beter gewapend om aan de noden van rederijen en grote containerschepen te beantwoorden”, zei vicevoorzitter Zhang Wei van CSP toen.
Het terminal operating system automatiseert processen om op een zo efficiënt mogelijke manier goederen langs de terminal te laten passeren. Het zorgt ook voor meer transparantie voor de verschillende stakeholders van de supplychain.
Hub voor Noord-Europa
Vorige week ging het systeem live in de CSP Terminal in Zeebrugge, wereldwijd de eerste terminal van Cosco waar dat het geval is. Het strategische belang van de in 2017 door CSP gekochte terminal wordt hiermee bevestigd. “Cosco wil van CSP Zeebrugge haar Noord-Europese shipping hub maken, als onderdeel van de bredere globalisatie van het bedrijf”, staat te lezen in een statement van Navis en CSP.
N4 zal CSP helpen om te voldoen aan de vraag van consumenten en toenemende trafiek. Ze zullen ook gebruikmaken van ‘expert decking’, een programma om containers optimaal te spreiden op het terrein.
Volgens Stefan Vanparys, projectleider voor de implementatie van N4 bij CSP Zeebrugge, was het partnership met Navis een juiste keuze om de doelstellingen van de terminal te halen. “N4 naar CSP Zeebrugge halen, vereiste nauwkeurige planning en toewijding van alle partners en het implementatieteam.”
In de komende maanden zal Navis het systeem verder uitrollen in andere terminals van Cosco. CSP Zeebrugge is niet de enige terminal in België die werkt met Navis. Ook bij DP World Antwerp werkt zowel Antwerp Gateway als containerdepot Empty Depot Services met het systeem.

According to Stefan Vanparys, project manager for the implementation of N4 at CSP Zeebrugge, the partnership with Navis was the right choice to achieve the terminal’s objectives. “Getting N4 to CSP Zeebrugge required precise planning and dedication of all partners and the implementation team.”
Navis will extend the system further for other Cosco terminals in the coming months. CSP Zeebrugge is not the only terminal in Belgium that works with Navis. At DP World Antwerp, both Antwerp Gateway and container depot Empty Depot Services work with the system.
